The Tanchjim 4U IEM is neatly packaged in a compact, grey and white box. Upon opening, you'll find two sets of ear tips: three pairs of wide bore and three pairs of standard or narrow bore silicone tips a special flat head tool for adjusting the filter screw. Also included are a grey velvety storage pouch and a white, silvery Litz cable, with the IEMs themselves prominently displayed at the center of the box. The shell is made of a zinc alloy with a frosted or matte finish with a glossy mirror like finger print magnet front panel design. Its compact design and contours fit easily on most ear shapes, and its shape reminds me of the EPZ Q5.

4-Level Adjustable Circuit Filter System One of the unique features of the 4U is its adjustable circuit filter system. Using a simple screw like mechanism instead of the commonly used dip switch on the inner side of the IEMs, you can customize the bass response to your liking. The adjustments provide four distinct sound signatures, enhancing the low frequencies without overwhelming the overall balance. This filter system subtly increases the note weight in the bass, adding thickness and warmth without artificial boosting. This ensures that the sound signature remains balanced and natural, providing a small bass enhancement that complements the accurate and transparent sound.

This inclusion of a 4-position filter screw subtly augmenting low frequencies by adjusting the filter switch, facilitated by the included mini flathead screwdriver this allows users to select from four distinct positions: Monitor, Neutral, Pop, and Atmosphere. This adjustment subtly enhances the low frequencies by increasing note weight and adding warmth, without artificially boosting the bass.

Monitor Filter:
Offering the least bass, this filter delivers a flat and neutral sound profile, which may come across as dull to some listeners.

Natural Filter: This filter, along with the Pop filter, closely resembles the sound signature of the Tanchjim Zero, especially when paired with wide-bore ear tips. It delivers a linear sound with a leaner bass.

Pop Filter: Providing a slight boost in the low frequencies and warmth in the midrange while maintaining a linear sound, the Pop filter resembles the Tanchjim Zero's sound when used with narrow or standard bore ear tips.

Atmosphere Filter: Despite being the bassiest option, the bass produced by this filter may come across as forced and artificial. This artificiality can make the sound Vailed congested and unnatural compared to the more restrained and neutral like bass when using other filter setting.

The Tanchjim 4U and the Tanchjim Zero exhibit similar tuning styles and tonal characteristics, and they may possibly utilize similar drivers with the 4u driver being the upgraded version. 4U features a linear sound signature, offering an uncolored and authentic audio experience that remains true to the source. This fidelity to linear sound reproduction ensures a balanced frequency response and avoiding any undue emphasis on particular fequency ranges. As a result, it provides an accurate and clear auditory experience. The mids are natural and neutral, the treble is crisp and well-defined, and the soundstage is above average but still immersive.

The midrange presents vocals and instruments with remarkable naturalness, neutrality and warmth, this makes the mids sound lifelike, allowing for a genuine reproduction of the nuances in male and female vocal performances and the textures of various instruments.

The treble is warm articulate and precise (on all filter settings) contributing to its overall clarity. High-frequency sounds are delivered with exceptional detail, enabling listeners to appreciate fine details in the music without experiencing harshness it remains smooth yet fairly informative.

The bass response of the Tanchjim 4U (on Nuetral and Pop filter settings) is tight and well-controlled. The mid-bass is punchy yet restrained without introducing any unnecessary warmth or boominess. This precision in the bass complements the overall sound signature, maintaining clarity and detail and texture.

Soundstage and Imaging is one of the most impressive aspects of the 4U for its rather compact size it has a good size soundstage, instruments and vocals are well-separated and positioned accurately within the stereo field. the above average imaging and space allows me to pinpoint the location of each sound source.

In conclusion, the Tanchjim 4U IEM emerges as a highly versatile and performance-oriented in-ear monitor that excels in delivering an authentic and finely tuned linear and neutral experience. From its unassuming yet elegant packaging to the innovative 4-level adjustable circuit filter system, the 4U stands out as a thoughtful design that caters to those looking for customization and quality.

While each filter setting serves a unique purpose, from the neutral clarity of the Monitor setting to the richer bass of the Atmosphere filter, the ability to switch seamlessly between these options adds significant value. 4Us capacity to render lush detailed midrange, articulate treble, and controlled bass with ample and precise soundstage makes it a top contender in its class.

Heartfield R1 Review: Sonic Bliss, Feature Miss The Heartfield R1 is a simple, straightforward DAC amp that stands out for its analog warmth and impressive sound performance, but it comes with its share of quirks. At $150, it's positioned as a premium dongle, but does it offer enough value to justify the price? Whats in the box : Design and Features First off, let's dive into the physical design—minimalist is the perfect description. The Heartfield R1 embraces a vintage vibe with its analog volume potentiometer, which adds a tactile charm to the experience. What’s great is that it avoids the usual annoyance of volume channel imbalance, something I often notice at lower volume levels with my other amps that uses analog pots. Here, you get precise, smooth volume control, which will please those who love fine-tuning their sound. However, feature-wise, it’s pretty barebones. It doesn’t support high-res audio beyond 16-bit, which feels limiting for a device in this price range. Al

Treble Sensitivity: High frequencies can be a bit too energetic on some tracks, which might not suit everyone. 4. Vocal and Guitar Naturalness: In rock music, vocals and guitar riffs may la
